After being rescued from the frigid streets of Las Vegas, Nevada (United States) when they were just newborns, a pair of kittens can now see. Thanks to their foster mother’s care and attention, they were able to thrive successfully.
Patricia Lika, a volunteer from Las Vegas, was alerted to a pair of kittens in desperate need of assistance. The small ones were discovered by a caring individual, who chose to take them to a nearby rescue organization for adequate treatment.
The kids, who were approximately a week old at the time, had to be kept warm and fed 24 hours a day without the care of a feline mother.
The small ones were brought to Patricia by the rescue group, who recognized that with her knowledge, she could give them a shot at life.
Grogu (White) and Princess Leia (Tuxedo) kittens have arrived at their new home and are sleeping together in their bed. After a few days, the mother noticed that the babies were having difficulty opening their eyes, so she took them to the veterinarian.
“They had ophthalmia neonatorum, which is an illness caused by contact with the infected mother’s birth canal. This is a critical situation that requires prompt attention.”
Multiple warm compresses, medicines for the illness, and other eye treatments were started as medical care for the two brothers.
The mother was adamant about saving the kittens’ eyes, so she worked tirelessly to get them back on their feet.
Patricia continued, ”
“It’s critical to keep the eyes clean at all times to prevent the infection from spreading and causing irreversible damage to the eye.”
Grogu began to respond to medical therapy within a few days, and as he healed, his hunger rose dramatically, and he demanded a lot of hugs. Grogu would crawl on Patricia’s breast for a snuggle whenever she was given any form of therapy or nourishment.
He took a while to fully open his eyes, but once he did, he began to heal swiftly and was extremely appreciative.
Patricia had this to say:
“She has totally opened her eyes and is mending.”
While Grogu’s condition was improving, his younger sister Leia continued to fight the infection in her eyes day after day. Patricia was concerned about the condition of one of her eyes, but she knew she needed to do everything she could to assist her.
So he returned to the clinic for a second opinion, and they ordered some harsher meds to see if they would help, which they did.
Grogu and Princess Leia made tremendous progress, and their eyes expanded as they beheld the lovely planet for the first time.
Patricia stated, ”
“They’re five weeks old now, and they’re healthy and happy infants.” They like running and fighting with one another. They’ve started playing with toys and are learning how to use the litter box.”
Sweet Grogu turns on his back to get his tummy stroked whenever Patricia walks into his room. Both kittens are quite cuddly and playful, although they prefer to spend most of their time with their foster parent.
Grogu and Leia surprise their owners by asking for tons of hugs and cuddles whenever they have the chance.
Patricia continued, ”
“They’re doing fantastic.” It’s a magical experience to see baby kittens transform into cats.”
The woman was there for the brothers when they needed her most, and now all she wants is for them to be ready for the next stage of their lives. Grogu and Leia are getting stronger and healthier, but they still have a lot to learn and hone before they can be adopted.
