Nobody expects a basic cat to become a source of encouragement and comfort for many people, providing unconditional affection as if it were a professional therapy animal.
This story’s protagonist does not have a given name. He used to be known as the CVS Cat, but now he’s known as Cosmo. People in South Philadelphia’s East Passyunk neighborhood have become accustomed to seeing this adorable cat prowling the streets.
Cosmo went to the drugstore with his masters, which was near to their house. The neighborhood admired the pussycat because he walked following his owners like a trained dog.
Their owners proceeded into the drugstore, completed their purchases, and then met the feline again before returning home. Even on the few occasions when he was observed strolling the streets alone, everyone in the neighborhood knew he belonged to a family.
Things, however, shifted from one moment to the next. Not only did the neighbors start seeing the cat alone on the streets more frequently than normal. Cosmo began returning to the drugstore where he had previously visited with his owners on a regular basis.
There was a time when the cat went to the drugstore every day and sat at the front entrance until it closed for the night. Nobody knew what was going on with the kitten until a neighbor told them the truth.
It has been in the hands of Cosmo’s masters for years. They were a 90-year-old couple who needed to relocate to New Jersey, and sadly, they had to leave the poor kitten behind. The tabby cat had been abandoned for a long time.
People in the community cared so much about him that they went out of their way to assist him right away. It was difficult for him to spend the evenings inside the pharmacy, therefore a foster home was needed to ensure that the cat would not suffer any injuries and had food and a comfortable place to sleep.
People who had had the pleasure of sharing with Cosmo wanted to show their gratitude for his time and attention.
Cosmo isn’t like any other kitty, that’s for sure. This kitten won many hearts with the way he followed visitors to the pharmacy to make their purchases.
He wandered along the halls with the customers, touching them with his tail and stealing a grin from them, even if they were unwell… we could say he was an unwitting therapy kitty.
Fortunately, Cosmo’s generosity and charity would not go unnoticed. As soon as his story of abandonment became public, a foster home arose to offer him with the much-needed home.
Everyone loves Cosmo and misses him because of the drugstore, but the fact is that they would rather know that he is happy and secure, waiting for a family to adopt him and love him for the rest of his life, than that he is at the whim of the streets’ perils.
