When things get terrifying, we all need someone to reassure us that everything will be fine.
A cat named Marvin is that pal for Moose, a pittie mix.
Mary Barnes rescued Marvin six months ago in the hopes of making him a friend for her 7-year-old dog.
“I wasn’t sure how Moose and Marvin would get along because she’d never really interacted with cats,” Barnes told us. “But she’s the kindest and most gentle girl so I had trust.”
“They rapidly became close friends,” says the narrator “she continued. “Because Marvin has a dog’s nature, they spend the entire day napping and playing together.”
Barnes noticed that Moose was getting increasingly sensitive to loud noises when she moved into an apartment in downtown Detroit. The puppy would quiver and flee if she heard fireworks or thunderstorms.
“When it’s storming, I try to give her goodies and keep her occupied, but she generally goes into the bathroom and hides in the shower,” Barnes said. “She hides in the shower all the time – it’s her safe haven.”
Marvin is unconcerned about thunder rattling the windows. Barnes, on the other hand, had no idea the kind cat would come to Moose’s aid in her hour of need.
“The storm we had last night was the first really huge, protracted storm we’ve had in Detroit since Marvin joined us,” Barnes remarked. “He was really intrigued about his older sister and worried about her.”
Marvin was aware that Moose was in pain, and he was not about to leave her alone.
“In the shower, he went back and forth to check in,” Barnes claimed. “She bent down to give him kisses, which took [Moose’s] mind off the storm for a little while!”
