The New South Wales Mounted Police Department has a new team member and it’s not a horse!
Meet Ed, a ginger kitty that was recruited to do a very important job, keep rodents out of the stables. When Ed is awake, he treats his job like a professional. He’s worked out where the best place is to lie in wait for them and tackles them by surprise. Every now and then he leaves a special gift in the office so that everybody know how fabulous he is at his job.
Ed was adopted by the officers of the Mounted Police earlier this year, he had been rescued by one of the officers and was in need of a home. As help was needed at the stables it seemed like a perfect match.
Acting Commander,Kylie Ann Riddell, explains: “He’s quite active in the mornings and he has favourite stables he likes to visit. There is one spot where he sits and waits for the rats to come running inside — he has delivered a dead rat to the office as well.”
Most of his work is done in the morning and he spends the rest of the time hanging out in the office where he has his own heater and well, sleeping!
He has fitted in well to his new home, he loves his job and nobody minds too much that he spends most of the time sleeping!
