Gonzo has always enjoyed being outside, ever since his family acquired him as a kitten. He enjoys wandering around the family’s yard and always returns when called. Gonzo enjoyed it so much that he started giving his family gifts because his family started allowing him hang out outside unattended since they felt secure doing so.
“One time, maybe a few months after we let him wander, he brought home a little shocked but still alive bird,” Gonzo’s father, Derek, told. “He handed it to the lady of the house (my wife), who screamed like someone had been murdered when she saw it. Gonzo was terrified (and me, and the neighbors). We placed the bird outside, and it flew away after a few minutes. Gonzo appeared to take that reaction to heart, because the only thing he’s ever brought home after then has been inanimate objects.”
Gonzo got inventive when he discovered that other animals weren’t a choice for gifts. He would pick up everything fascinating or distinctive he could find outdoors and bring it home to his parents, which was generally rubbish that someone had thrown away. He’s started utilizing an abandoned storage space beneath his family’s apartment building as his one-stop gift shop, and it’s helped him uncover a lot of gems.
Derek explained, “Most days when he walks outside, he’ll bring us one or two garbage gifts at some point.” “Some days he delivers nothing, and other days he brings a lot. His current record stands at nine in a single day… From [the storage room], he gave us the centerfold of an old Playboy magazine and an old lightbulb in a box. He once brought some brand-new plumbing components from a building site, still wrapped in plastic. I gave those back to the staff, who were perplexed when I explained how they ended up in my possession.”
Derek explained, “My wife and I spoke about it and simply felt like it would be a good idea to educate ourselves on what he was up to.” “Even though he plainly enjoyed being outside, we would have considered making him an indoor-only cat if he had been slaughtering wildlife, getting himself into perilous circumstances, or eating strange foods. It was also a natural extension of my day-to-day routine, given I’m a documentary filmmaker by trade. I looked online for cat camera collars but could only find one at the time, and I didn’t like the design. So I bought a cheap, small spy camera and used a plastic 3D doodle pen to attach it to a breakaway collar to make my own rig.”
Gonzo’s parents started holding the camera collar over him occasionally to keep him under surveillance, and some of the footage they have just shot has increased their love for him.
Derek explained, “Most of the sights he gets are resting in the bushes.” “However, on the second day, he came back with the video of a meeting with some baby poses. We watched with trembling the first time we reviewed him. But after that, he just sat with them in peace. It was fascinating and us we liked to learn more about him. ”

“Gonzo is a big, powerful cat with tremendous intelligence, but the results will not be nice or safe for many cats,” Derek explained. “We do not allow Pisces, our other cat, to go through the apartment complex to collect various things.
