After being discovered whimpering under a car engine, a lovely black and white kitty was brought to Ashley Kelley, a foster care volunteer at Wrenn Rescues. Odahviing, the kitten, was born with a bilateral cleft lip and needed tube feeding for the first two weeks after being rescued.
The kitty swiftly recovered, and as soon as he was able to feed himself, he felt like the luckiest guy alive, and he was unstoppable; Ashley welcomed Attis, a special needs kitty, a few weeks later.
Attis has cerebellar hypoplasia, which causes him to wobble a little; he is also blind, but he doesn’t let that stop him; he manages to go around the home pretty well.
“He hears and feels vibrations with his whiskers, which he uses to keep track of everything.” You wouldn’t be able to tell he’s blind if you didn’t know. He moves amazingly well for a kitten his age, running and jumping with the dexterity of any cat his age.”
When this brave kid was ready to meet Odahviing, the two felines got along like siblings. These kittens shared a remarkable affinity and spent all of their time together, despite coming from separate moms.
Little Attis cuddled close to his dearest companion and purred softly to sleep. His new brother’s presence made him more confident in himself, and his blindness had no effect on him.
Soon later, a sweet cat named Matilda Beans joined the clan, and she was taken into Ashley’s care for urgent care.
Ashley explains:
“She was part of a litter that had an upper respiratory illness, but she was the runt, so it impacted her really severely.”
While Matilda’s siblings healed, she struggled with a variety of health issues that hampered her growth.
As Ashley put it,
“It took him a month of constant oxygen, many nebulizer treatments per day, extremely powerful antibiotics, eye drops, and nose drops to recover, but he was strong-willed and determined to survive, so he did.” He never came to a halt or let me ponder if he was hurt. He’d wake up eager to eat and live for every meal, and he’d break my knuckles for giving him medicine.”
When Matilda’s health began to improve, her inquisitive nature began to emerge. She was anxious to make new friends with whom she could play, and Ashley had just the right company for her.
Ashley continued, ”
“Matilda Beans met the boys and fell in love with them right away. These three are inseparable and have always been the nicest of misfits. They provided so much happiness to my entire house, each one so unique yet so complementing to the others.”
Ashley wanted the trio to find a home together when they were ready to find their forever homes, despite the fact that finding a home for three cats is a significant commitment and responsibility.
However, he was pleasantly pleased a few weeks later when a family brought in an Adoption application for all three kittens; the volunteer was ecstatic and appreciative.
