Two cute kittens were discovered in the vicinity of a farm in New Hampshire, USA. They were moved to the Monadnock Humane Society with the goal of giving them a better life…
The kittens were initially hesitant, but as soon as they arrived at their new home, they sought refuge. Connie, a member of Tails from the Foster Kittens and a Humane Society volunteer, took them home and set up an area for them. They were dubbed Peanut Butter and Jelly by her.
Peanut Butter quickly overcame his trepidation, and his curiosity drew him to the toys, which piqued his interest; he wanted to know everything. Jelly, for one, sheltered behind him like a shield.
Peanut Butter wanted that wonderful treat for himself, so Connie attempted to gain Jelly’s attention with some snacks.
“Peanut Butter quickly discovered the pleasure of having his chin stroked and his back scratched, but he remains wary of unfamiliar circumstances.”
Every time Connie tries to court young Jelly, her gregarious and mischievous brother steps in to steal the show. He even appears to want to assist at times, but is only interested in being rewarded with food.
Connie explains:
“Your sister is terrified of people, so in an attempt to win her over, I pulled out the all-powerful beef baby food that no kitten can resist.” The first time she smelled Peanut Butter, she jumped in headlong.”
The fluffy gray cat was full of energy, which gradually rubbed off on his quiet sibling. Peanut Butter and Jelly spent their first days hiding in the bathroom, frightened to venture beyond their comfort zone, but as he recovered and became stronger, the tiny one chose to venture outside his comfort zone and explore his new home.
While everyone was sleeping, Peanut Butter decided to embark on his own exploring expedition into the next room, accompanied by his sister. The kitten loved the new space since it was much larger and allowed him to play and leap about freely.
Jelly will need some time to feel comfortable walking across the places during the day. Peanut Butter, for one, has surveyed the next room extensively and appears to have given her complete okay to playing and climbing cat trees.
